If you enjoy home-made food away from home, in a laid-back and chilled atmosphere, then the Market on Main is the place for you. What better place to mingle with the locals, visitors and loved ones if not at the market anyway?
I recently popped in with a bunch of friends for some late lunch snacks and it was a treat. I had a chicken stir fry (freshly made on the spot); someone else in our group had a good old South African dish – pap and vleis, and the other had fresh fish and chips.
The rule here is that you bring your own alcoholic beverages to complement the delicious treat of your choice.
I must be honest, Market on Main is one of those places some of us locals just pass through as we go about in our day to day lives in this beautiful bay, only to realize later what an awful mistake that has been.
If you haven’t been, don’t stress, it’s not too late. There’s something here for everybody; just let your nose do the talking as you wander through the market searching for your perfect meal.
The selection of food stalls here caters for all kinds of appetites, and offers all kinds of meals too, from sushi, steaks, pizzas, fish, curries, pap and vleis, Italian and many other sorts.
Market on Main also boasts a selection of vibrant hand crafts, accessories, leather shoes, skins and bags, street wear styled T-shirts, silver jewellery, and other African inspired arts.
Can’t stand the heat in the kitchen? Well, get out and head to Market on Main!
They are open daily from 07h00 to 18h00
